The B494-24ZN braced single bracket is rated for 1300 lbs. That rating is for the bracket as an assembly, with the diagonal brace in place; the brace is what lets it carry far more than a plain unbraced arm of the same 24 inch projection. Mounting fasteners and the channel the bracket lands on have to be rated for the load too, since the bracket rating assumes a properly anchored strut run.

It projects 24 inches from the mounting face, stands 8.75 inches high, and the arm is 1.62 inches wide. The 8.75 inch height is what you need clearance for on the wall or column, because the brace runs back up to that point. Plan cable tray or conduit elevations around that, not just around the 24 inch arm.

The bottom brace on the B494-24 and smaller sizes is a B42 channel; on the B494 and larger it steps up to B22. So on this 24 inch version you are working with B42 for the brace. Match your strut and brace hardware to that when you order, or the brace legs won't seat.

Electro-plated zinc on steel is an indoor, dry-location finish. It handles a clean mechanical room, electrical room, or conditioned warehouse fine. For exterior runs, parking structures, wash-down areas, or corrosive process spaces, step up to a hot-dip galvanized or stainless bracket instead. The ZN suffix in B494-24ZN is the zinc plating designation.

Use the braced version when the arm is long and the load is real. At a 24 inch projection an unbraced cantilever puts heavy bending into the mounting bolts and the channel; the diagonal brace on the B494-24ZN transfers that back into the wall and is why it carries 1300 lbs. Plain single brackets are fine for short reaches and light conduit. Once you are hanging cable tray, bus duct drops, or multiple large raceways two feet off the wall, the braced bracket is the right call.
