1) Can the Eaton B-Line 24246 HC NK junction box be used outdoors or in a washdown area?
No. The 24246 HC NK is a NEMA Type 1 enclosure, which is indoor-only protection against incidental contact and falling dirt. It offers no rating against rain, hose-down, dust, oil, or corrosive conditions. For a wet or outdoor location you need a Type 3R or Type 4 enclosure instead.
2) What are the actual box dimensions of the B-Line 24246 junction box?
It measures 24 inches high, 24 inches wide, and 6 inches deep. That 6 inch depth is what decides whether your conduit bodies, terminal blocks, or wire bends fit behind the cover, so check it against the deepest component you plan to mount inside.
3) Does this 24x24x6 B-Line enclosure come with knockouts for conduit?
No knockouts. The 24246 HC NK is the NK (no knockout) version, so the walls come blank and you punch your own conduit entries wherever the run lands. If you want factory conduit openings, order a knockout version instead.
4) How does this junction box mount to the wall?
Surface mount, using thru holes in the back of the enclosure. There are no formed mounting feet or flanges, so the box sits flat against the wall and your fasteners pass through the rear panel. At 39.5 lb empty, anchor it into studs or use rated masonry anchors, not drywall toggles alone.
5) Is the cover on the 24246 HC NK hinged or does it lift off?
Both, in effect. The cover is hinged as a medium single door, and it is also removable, which lets you swing it open for normal service or take it off entirely when you are pulling wire or mounting a backplate. It has a recessed pull ring and a friction dimple to hold it closed.

The body is 16 gauge carbon steel with a painted finish in ANSI 61 grey.
