1) Can I mount this B-Line screw cover enclosure outdoors?
Yes, within the limits of its rating. The 12106 SCG is built to NEMA 3 for outdoor use, with a gasketed screw cover and gasketed cover screws to keep out windblown dust, rain, sleet, and external ice formation. It is not a washdown or hosedown box, so if equipment gets directly sprayed, step up to a Type 4 or 4X enclosure instead.
2) Does the 12106 SCG come with mounting feet or brackets?
No. This one ships with no mounting provisions, so there are no external feet, brackets, or back panel studs on the enclosure. It is a surface mounted box, which means you supply the mounting hardware and either drill the back or use separate panel or foot kits. Plan for that on the material list, and remember any hole you put through the back of a Type 3 box has to be sealed or it defeats the rating.
3) Is this box painted, and will it rust outside?
It is unfinished galvanized steel, grey in appearance, with no paint or powder coat. The zinc coating is the corrosion protection. For general outdoor and damp industrial locations that is normal practice; in coastal salt air or a chemical environment, a painted or stainless enclosure is the better call.
4) Does the 12106 SCG come with knockouts, or do I drill my own conduit entries?
You make your own entries. Screw cover SCG boxes are supplied without knockouts so the installer can punch conduit hubs exactly where the run lands. Use a hole punch and a raintight hub or sealing locknut on every entry to keep the NEMA 3 rating intact, and keep entries out of the top face where practical.
5) Is this enclosure UL listed for an inspected commercial job?
The 12106 SCG is built to UL 50, the standard covering enclosures for electrical equipment, and it is made in the US. For a facility or institutional spec that calls out a UL 50 Type 3 enclosure, that is the box you are looking at.
6) Screw cover or hinged door enclosure for an outdoor junction point?
A screw cover like the 12106 SCG suits a box you open rarely: splices, pull points, taps, a set of terminal blocks. The cover comes fully off, so you get unobstructed access to all four corners, and gasketed screws pull it evenly against the oil-resistant gasket. If somebody needs to open it weekly for resets or metering, buy a hinged door enclosure instead, because a loose cover and a handful of screws on a ladder gets old fast.
