1) Can the Eaton B-Line 864 SCG junction box be used outdoors or in a wet location?
The 864 SCG is a Type 3/3R enclosure, so it is built for outdoor use against rain, sleet and windblown dust, and it also carries a Type 12 rating for indoor dust and dripping oil or coolant. The seal comes from an oil-resistant gasket and gasketed cover screws, and the body is galvanized steel. It is UL 50 listed. For washdown or hosedown areas you want a Type 4 or 4X box instead, not this one.
2) Does the B-Line 864 SCG come with mounting feet or holes for surface mounting?
No. The 864 SCG has no mounting provisions, so there are no factory mounting holes or brackets in the back. It is a surface-mount style box, which means the installer supplies the mounting method, typically panel or wall anchors through holes you drill, or an external mounting bracket. Plan on that hardware as a separate line on your order.
3) Does the 864 SCG junction box come with knockouts, or do I have to punch my own conduit openings?
The 864 SCG is supplied as a sealed screw-cover enclosure with no knockout pattern called out, so treat it as a blank box and punch your own conduit entries where you need them. That is normal for a Type 3R gasketed box: any opening you make has to be resealed with a rated hub or fitting to keep the rating intact. Punch the sides or bottom rather than the top so water cannot sit at the entry.
4) Is the cover on the B-Line 864 hinged or screw-on?
Screw cover. The 864 SCG uses gasketed screws around the perimeter rather than a hinge or latch, which is what lets it hold the gasket seal evenly. That is fine for a junction or pull box you rarely open, but if you need frequent access for terminations or metering, a hinged-door enclosure will save you time on every service call.
