1) Can the B-Line 884 RTHC junction box be mounted outdoors?
Yes, within the limits of a NEMA 3R rating. The 884 RTHC is rated Type 3/3R, which covers outdoor use against falling rain, sleet and external ice formation, and it includes a rain hood over the door. It is not a washdown or hosedown enclosure, so keep it off surfaces that get pressure sprayed and mount it upright so the hood sheds water as intended.
2) What are the actual box dimensions of the B-Line 884 RTHC enclosure?
8 inches high, 8 inches wide, and 4 inches deep. That 4 inch depth is the number to check first if you are stacking terminal blocks or landing large conductors, since a 4 inch back box gets tight fast once conduit hubs and bushings are inside.
3) How does the 884 RTHC mount to a wall, and does it come with hardware?
Surface mount, using embossed thru holes in the back of the box. Embossed holes mean the mounting fasteners pass through raised bosses rather than the flat back panel, which keeps the enclosure standing off the wall and preserves the 3R integrity around the hole. Your own anchors or screws are what you fasten it with, sized to the wall you are into.
4) Can this B-Line enclosure be locked shut?
It has a padlock provision on the door, so you can secure it with your own padlock. The cover is a hinged door on a formed top hinge and is removable, which makes it practical to pull the door off entirely while you are wiring and rehang it before you lock up.

It comes with 4 knockouts already provided. If your conduit run does not line up with them, the 16 gauge carbon steel body takes a standard hole punch, but any opening you add yourself needs a rated fitting or sealing washer to keep the 3R rating intact outdoors.
6) Is a carbon steel 3R box the right choice, or should I use stainless or non-metallic?
Painted 16 gauge carbon steel with a 3R rating suits sheltered exterior and general outdoor wall locations: exposed to rain and sleet, not to chemicals or constant wetting. In coastal salt air, a washdown area, or anywhere corrosive, step up to a stainless or non-metallic enclosure with a 4X rating instead. Type 3R by definition does not claim protection against hosedown or dust ingress.
7) Will this enclosure match the other grey panels already on my wall?
It ships painted in ANSI 61 grey, the standard light grey used across most industrial control panels and enclosures, so it lines up visually with existing B-Line and other ANSI 61 gear on the same wall. The paint is over carbon steel, so touch up any field drilling or scratches to keep corrosion off it outdoors.
