The 242010-43PT is a NEMA 4 enclosure, so it is built for hose-directed water and outdoor wet locations, and it is UL 50 listed. The watertight seal comes from a seamless poured in-place gasket around the hinged cover. NEMA 4 does not include corrosive-atmosphere protection, and the body here is painted carbon steel rather than stainless, so for washdown chemicals or coastal salt exposure a stainless Type 4X box is the better call.

24 inches high by 20 inches wide by 10 inches deep, which is where the 242010 in the model number comes from. The 10 inch depth is what usually decides it: that gives you room for breakers, a small PLC, or terminal blocks with wire bending space behind the door. It weighs 42.2 lb empty, so plan for two people or a lift when hanging it.

It stands off. External mounting feet are welded to the back, so the enclosure hangs on the wall surface with a gap behind it and you never have to drill through the back panel wall, which would break the NEMA 4 seal. Wall mount only, not free standing or floor mount.

Both. The door uses a 3-point latching handle with key lock and padlock provision, so you can secure it with the key for daily use or add a padlock for lockout/tagout. The 3-point latch pulls the door against the gasket at top, middle and bottom, which is what keeps a 24 inch tall door sealed evenly.

What you get is the enclosure body and hinged door with the 3-point handle and gasket. Interior mounting panels for this type of wall mount box are ordered separately and sized to the enclosure, so add a panel to the order if you are mounting a DIN rail, breakers, or a drive inside.

You can, but the rating only holds if every penetration is made watertight. The 242010-43PT ships without knockouts so the NEMA 4 envelope is intact; any hole you cut needs a Type 4 rated hub or watertight fitting, and cuts through the painted carbon steel should be touched up to stop rust. Keep penetrations off the top face where water sits.

16 gauge carbon steel, painted ANSI 61 grey, which is the standard industrial control panel grey so it matches existing gear in most plants and switchgear rooms. It is made in the US.
