B-LINE 44 HSC – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the B-Line 44 HSC connector fit 4x4 wireway?
Yes. The Eaton B-Line 44 HSC is sized for 4 inch by 4 inch wireway, with a stated height of 4 inches and a length/depth of 4 inches. Overall width runs 4.289 inches, which is the flange overlap that laps onto the trough sides. It will not work on 6x6 or 8x8 trough.
2) Is this wireway connector rated for indoor use only, or can I use it outdoors?
Indoor, dry locations only. The 44 HSC is a NEMA 1 enclosure rating, which is general purpose indoor protection against incidental contact and falling dirt, with no rain or washdown protection. For an exterior run or a wet location you need NEMA 3R or 4 rated wireway and fittings instead.
3) What does the connector style wiring method on the 44 HSC mean for the install?
Connector style means the fitting joins two lengths of 4x4 wireway trough end to end so conductors pass straight through the splice. It is not an elbow, tee, or end plate, so if you are turning a corner or terminating a run you need the matching angle fitting or closure plate rather than this part.
4) Is the B-Line 44 HSC UL Listed for an inspected commercial job?
It is UL Listed. That matters on a permitted commercial or institutional install where the inspector wants listed fittings on a listed wireway system, and it lets an MRO buyer standardize the fitting across a facility without re-qualifying each run.
5) What material is the 44 HSC wireway connector, and will it rust in a plant environment?
Galvanized steel. The zinc coating handles normal indoor industrial and mechanical room conditions, but this is a NEMA 1 part, so it is not the fitting for washdown, corrosive process areas, or anywhere it will see standing moisture.
6) What is the exact part number to order this Eaton B-Line wireway connector?
Order it as Eaton B-Line 44 HSC. That is the manufacturer part number for the NEMA 1 galvanized steel 4x4 connector, and it is the number to quote to match existing fittings on a run already installed.
