B-LINE 66-12LE9TCC – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does a 90 degree transposition elbow do on a wireway run, and when do I need one instead of a standard elbow?
A transposition elbow turns the wireway run 90 degrees while also rotating the wireway body, so the cover face carries around the corner onto the new plane instead of ending up buried against a wall or ceiling. Use it where the run changes both direction and orientation, for example coming off a horizontal wall-mounted run and turning up a vertical face. A plain 90 degree elbow only changes direction on one plane. Eaton B-Line model 66-12LE9TCC is the counterclockwise version, so it rotates the run to the left as you follow the direction of travel.
2) What size wireway does the B-Line 66-12LE9TCC elbow fit?
It is built for 6 x 6 inch wireway. The fitting measures 6 inches high by 6 inches wide, so it mates to a 6 by 6 trough run. If your run is 4 by 4, 8 by 8, or 12 by 12, this is the wrong fitting size.
3) Is this wireway elbow rated for a washdown or dusty plant environment?
The 66-12LE9TCC is a NEMA 12 fitting, which covers indoor use against falling dirt, circulating dust, lint, and dripping non-corrosive liquids. It is not a washdown or hosedown rating and it is not for wet outdoor locations. For a wet or outdoor run you need NEMA 3R or NEMA 4 wireway and matching fittings. The elbow is UL Listed.
4) Do I need the counterclockwise or the clockwise version of this transposition elbow?
Handing is the whole decision on a transposition fitting. Model 66-12LE9TCC is the counterclockwise unit, meaning the body rotates left as the run turns. Stand at the fitting facing the direction the conductors travel and see which way the cover face has to end up on the outgoing leg. If the cover needs to swing right, you need the clockwise version instead. Ordering the wrong hand leaves the cover facing a wall and the run uninspectable.
5) Will this elbow match the gray wireway already installed in my plant?
It is finished in ANSI 61 gray paint, which is the standard gray used across Eaton B-Line steel wireway and most industrial enclosures, so it matches existing ANSI 61 trough runs and panels. The body is steel.
6) Is this steel wireway elbow suitable for an outdoor or corrosive area?
No. The 66-12LE9TCC is painted steel rated NEMA 12, which is an indoor, dry-location rating for dust and dripping liquids. Outdoor exposure, washdown, or a corrosive process area calls for a different construction, typically stainless or a NEMA 4/4X rated wireway system with fittings from that family.
7) How heavy is this wireway elbow and does one person need support to hang it?
The fitting weighs 9.557 lb. That is a one-hand lift, but on a 6 by 6 steel run it still wants a hanger or trapeze at the turn rather than being carried on the flange bolts of the adjoining trough sections alone.
