1) Will the B-Line 88-3RAHSE NK end plate fit an 8 x 8 wireway run?
Yes. The 88-3RAHSE NK is sized for 8 inch by 8 inch wireway, with a height and depth of 8 inches and an overall width of 8.26 inches. That extra width is the flange that laps the wireway body. Anything other than an 8 x 8 trough needs a different end plate size.
2) Is this wireway end plate rated for outdoor use?
It carries a NEMA 3R degree of protection, which is the rainproof rating used for outdoor wireway runs, and it is UL Listed. Bear in mind a 3R system only stays 3R if every component in the run, the trough, covers, fittings and the other end, is also 3R and installed with the rain-tight joints.
3) What does the NK mean on 88-3RAHSE NK, and when would I want it?
NK is no knockout. The plate ships as a solid closure with no pre-punched conduit openings, so it blanks off the end of the run cleanly. Choose it when nothing enters at that end. If you need a raceway or conduit to land on the end plate, you want a version with knockouts or you will be punching it in the field.
4) Is this B-Line wireway end aluminum or steel, and will it hold up outdoors near the coast?
Aluminum, finished in ANSI 61 gray acrylic. Aluminum is the usual pick over painted steel for wet and corrosive exposures because the base metal does not rust if the coating gets scratched during install. It also keeps the part light, at .655 lb.
5) Does this part close off the end of a wireway, or is it a coupling between two sections?
It is an end closure, not a coupler. The 88-3RAHSE NK caps the open end of an 8 x 8 wireway run. To join two lengths of trough together you need a connector or coupling, and to change direction you need an elbow or tee fitting, all ordered separately.
6) Will the ANSI 61 gray match the rest of my existing B-Line wireway run?
The end plate is finished ANSI 61 gray acrylic, the standard gray used across Eaton B-Line wireway, so it reads the same as the trough and covers on a typical run. On weathered outdoor installs expect some difference in sheen between new and sun-aged sections.
7) How many end plates do I need for a wireway run?
Two, one at each termination, unless an end of the run dies into a panel, pull box or enclosure. A single 88-3RAHSE NK covers one end of an 8 x 8 trough, so order by the number of open ends you actually have, not by the number of trough sections.
