B-LINE 66 FTFGV – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does a wireway telescoping fitting like the B-Line 66 FTFGV actually do in a run?
A telescoping fitting bridges a gap between two sections of wireway when the run does not close out to an exact length, or when a section has to be removed later without disturbing the rest of the run. The Eaton B-Line 66 FTFGV slips over the adjoining wireway ends so the run stays enclosed and bonded. It is a lay-in fitting, so conductors drop in from the top rather than being pulled through.
2) Is the B-Line 66 FTFGV telescoping fitting suitable for outdoor or wet locations?
No. It is a NEMA 1 rated fitting, which is indoor, general purpose enclosure protection only, guarding against incidental contact with the enclosed equipment and falling dirt. For a rooftop, exterior wall, or washdown area you need a NEMA 3R or NEMA 4 wireway and matching fittings instead.
3) What is the 66 FTFGV wireway fitting made of, and will it hold up in an unheated warehouse or parking structure?
Galvanized steel. The zinc coating handles the humidity swings and condensation you get in an unheated warehouse or a covered garage, but the fitting carries only a NEMA 1 indoor rating, so it should not sit where it takes direct rain or hose spray.
4) Can I remove a section of wireway later without cutting if I use a telescoping fitting?
That is the reason to install one. Because the 66 FTFGV slides along the run, you can retract it and free an adjoining 6 x 6 lay-in wireway section for removal, then slide it back to reclose the run. Its 12 inch length gives you the lap to work with.
5) How heavy is a 6x6 telescoping wireway fitting for handling on a lift?
The 66 FTFGV weighs 5.173 lb, so it is a one-hand piece on a ladder or scissor lift. No temporary support needed while you set it over the duct ends.
6) Do I order the telescoping fitting separately from the wireway sections?
Yes. The 66 FTFGV is a fitting only, sold apart from the wireway duct, covers, and hangers. Order it in addition to the 6 x 6 lay-in wireway lengths and any elbows or tees the run needs.
