B-LINE 44120 GGV NK – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the 44120 GGV NK wireway come with knockouts, or do I have to punch my own openings?
No knockouts. The 44120 GGV NK is the NK (no knockout) version, so every conduit entry gets punched on site with a hole saw or knockout punch exactly where your raceway lands. If you'd rather have factory openings on standard spacing, you need the knockout version of the same trough instead. Field punching is the usual choice when you're feeding a panel board and the conduit stub-ups don't line up with a fixed pattern.
2) Is this wireway rated for outdoor or wet locations?
No. The 44120 GGV NK is a NEMA 1 trough, which is indoor, dry-location general purpose enclosure only. It keeps personnel out of live parts and catches falling dirt, but it is not gasketed against rain, washdown, or dust. For a rooftop, loading dock, or wash area you need a NEMA 3R or 4 raintight wireway, not this one.
3) How does the cover come off the B-Line 44120 wireway for pulling conductors?
It's a screw cover trough. The full-length cover is secured with plated screws that back out so the whole side opens up for laying in conductors, then screws back down. That's slower to open than a hinged cover, so if you're in a panel you service often, a hinged-cover wireway is the easier choice. The plating on the screws is there so they don't rust into the flange in a damp mechanical room.
4) How is this trough mounted to the wall or strut?
Through holes in the body. The 44120 GGV NK ships prepared for thru-hole mounting, so it bolts directly to a wall, backboard, or strut channel with your own fasteners. Hanging hardware, brackets, and couplings are not part of the trough itself, so order connectors, end plates, and any elbows or tees separately to finish the run.
5) Can I use a 4x4 wireway as a pull box between panels, or do I need something bigger?
A 4 x 4 trough works as a gutter and pull point for typical branch and small feeder work, but the 4 inch inside dimension governs your bending space and your 20 percent fill. Large feeder conductors that need more bending radius at a turn belong in a 6x6 or 8x8 trough instead. Size the trough off your conductor count and the largest conductor you're bending at an entry, not off the length.
