B-LINE 44120 GRTGV NK – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the B-Line 44120 GRTGV NK wiring trough be used outdoors?
The 44120 GRTGV NK is a NEMA 3R trough in galvanized steel, so it is built for outdoor use where falling rain, sleet and ice are the exposure. NEMA 3R is not a washdown or dust-tight rating, so keep it off locations that see hose-directed water or heavy airborne dust.
2) Does this 4x4 wiring trough come with knockouts for conduit?
No knockouts. The 44120 GRTGV NK ships blank, so every conduit entry gets field-punched or hole-sawed where you want it. That is the point of the NK version: you place the openings to suit the run instead of working around factory knockouts. Budget time for punching and for maintaining the galvanized finish at each cut.
3) How does this trough mount to a wall or strut?
Mounting is through embossed thru holes in the back of the trough, so you fasten straight through to the structure or to strut with your own hardware. Fasteners and mounting brackets are not part of the trough, so order them with the job.
4) Is the cover on this B-Line trough hinged or screw-on?
Screw cover. The cover seats against a flange and is held by plated screws along its length, which is what keeps the 3R rating intact once it is buttoned up. If electricians will be pulling into this trough repeatedly, plan for the screw removal time, a hinged-cover trough is the faster choice for frequently opened runs.
5) Is this wiring trough approved for Canadian work?
The 44120 GRTGV NK carries CSA C22.2, so it is recognized under the Canadian Electrical Code product standards for this class of enclosure. Useful if you are specifying for a job north of the border or for a multi-site spec that has to cover both.
