Galvanized steel with a gray finish handles wet locations, general outdoor exposure, and most damp industrial spaces. It is the standard 4X body material and the cost-sensible choice for a parking structure, pump house, or exterior wall run. Where it gives ground is direct salt spray, chlorine rooms, or food and pharma washdown with aggressive cleaners; those calls belong to a 304 or 316 stainless trough, and 316 specifically for chloride exposure. Match the trough to the enclosures already on the wall so you are not mixing metals in a corrosive room.

16 gauge steel throughout, which is the standard commercial and industrial body weight for a 4 inch trough and stiff enough that a 36 inch section will not oil-can when you set it on standoffs or strut. It takes drilled conduit entries cleanly with a hole saw or punch without deforming around the hole, which matters on a no-knockout body where every penetration is made in the field.

Troughs are built to be coupled end to end, and the 4436 GTGV NK is a 4 by 4 body, so it lines up with any other 4 by 4 gutter section for a continuous run. What you add is the connector hardware and, in a wet location, the gasket kit to keep the joint at NEMA 4X. Since the body ships with no knockouts, the end openings and any pass-through get cut to suit in the field. Order lengths that break at your bay spacing rather than field-cutting a section, since a cut end is a sealing problem on a 4X job.
