1) Is 65 kAIC enough for my service, and what is the Eaton ED3200 interrupting rating?
The ED3200 is rated 65 kAIC at 240 Vac. That covers most commercial and industrial panelboard and switchboard locations where the available fault current at the breaker does not exceed 65 kA. If your short-circuit study shows more than 65 kA at that point, this breaker is not adequately rated and you need a higher AIC device or series-rated combination.
2) What does fixed trip mean on the Eaton ED3200, and can I adjust the trip setting later?
Fixed means factory set. The ED3200 uses fixed thermal and fixed magnetic trip elements at 200 A, so there is no adjustment dial for the overload or the instantaneous pickup. You get the same response every time, which is what most feeder and branch applications want, but if your coordination study calls for an adjustable instantaneous or an electronic trip unit, this is the wrong unit to order.
3) Does the Eaton ED3200 come as a complete breaker or do I need to buy a separate trip unit?
