2) What does a twin half-slot breaker actually do for panel space?
A CHT twin puts two independent single-pole circuits into one full-size breaker space, so you can add a circuit to a panel that has no open slots left. Each half carries its own handle and its own overcurrent protection at 120/240V. Before you use one, confirm the panel label allows tandem or twin breakers in that position, since many loadcenters restrict which slots accept them and cap the total circuit count.
3) Can I use a CHT twin for a 240V circuit like a water heater or a dryer?
