3) Is this masonry box approved for use in a hazardous or classified area?
No. These Crouse-Hinds masonry boxes are rated for ordinary, non-hazardous locations only. For a classified area you need a cast explosionproof enclosure, not a gangable sheet steel masonry box.
4) What is the difference between the Crouse-Hinds TP671 masonry box and a RACO 232MS 4 in. square box?
They solve different rough-in problems. The Crouse-Hinds TP671 is a single-gang gangable steel masonry box, 2-1/2 in. deep by 3-3/4 in. high, sized to set into block and brick coursing and to be ganged side by side when a second device is added later. The RACO 232MS is a 4 in. square welded box in the STAB-iT Series, 2-1/8 in. deep and rated 600V; a welded box is a one-piece enclosure that does not gang, and it takes a plaster ring to land a device. Choose the TP671 when the device count in a masonry opening may grow, and the 4 in. square when you want a single deeper junction point behind a ring.
5) Does this box meet code for a commercial job in the US and Canada?
It is built to NEC and CEC standards and is UL listed, so it covers inspections on both sides of the border for ordinary-location work in offices, retail, schools, and multi-unit buildings.
6) Which Crouse-Hinds masonry box do I order for a standard 8 in. block wall?
