B-LINE QC2050N – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the QC2050N breaker work on a 240V two-pole circuit like a dryer or water heater?
Yes. The QC2050N is a two-pole, 50 amp breaker rated 120/240V, so it lands on both legs of a residential or light commercial split-phase panel and feeds a 240V load such as a dryer, water heater, range circuit or a subpanel feeder. Match the 50A rating to the wire size and the load's nameplate before installing.
2) What does cable-in/cable-out mean on the Eaton QC breaker, and how does it mount?
Cable-in/cable-out means both the line and load conductors terminate on the breaker itself rather than the breaker plugging onto a panel bus stab. You wire it in line, which is how these QC-type industrial miniature breakers get used in equipment enclosures, control panels and as a standalone disconnect rather than in a standard plug-on load center.
3) Is the QC2050N a thermal-magnetic breaker or an electronic trip unit?
Thermal-magnetic. A bimetal element handles sustained overloads with an inverse time delay, and a magnetic element trips instantly on a short circuit. There is no adjustable electronic trip unit, so the 50 amp trip point is fixed and you size conductors and load to it rather than dialing the breaker in.
4) Does the QC2050N provide ground fault or arc fault protection?
No. It is a straight thermal-magnetic overcurrent device, protecting against overload and short circuit only. If the circuit requires GFCI or AFCI protection under code, you need a dedicated GFCI or AFCI breaker or a protected receptacle downstream.
