Emtek 2268 00US19 SQ SM – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is this Emtek hook suitable for a commercial restroom or a high-traffic institutional building?
It is classed as residential hardware in the SELECT Series, styled traditional and built for baths, bedrooms and entries. For a commercial restroom or institutional corridor, the Trimco 3070-1 Coat and Hat Hook or the Trimco 7010 fOCAL Robe Hook and Stop are the commercial-line alternatives, the 7010 doubling as a door stop.
2) I need a double hook rather than a single U hook - what are my options besides the Emtek 2268 smooth tip U hook?
The Emtek 2268 SELECT smooth tip U hook is a single wall mount hook on a rosette. If the opening calls for two arms, Deltana offers the 55D2010 double robe hook in the 55D series and the 88DRH double robe hook in the 88 series, both solid brass, plus the BBS2010 double robe hook in the BBS series. Orca Hardware covers the same need with the 4854 Blakely double robe hook and the 4954 Whidbey double robe hook. Those give you two hanging points per mounting location instead of one.
3) This is for a commercial corridor and office build-out, not a home - is the Emtek 2268 U hook the right call?
The Emtek 2268 SELECT smooth tip U hook is designated residential, and its appeal is the SELECT customization - stem, tip, rosette and mixed finishes. For a commercial spec, Trimco is the closer match: the 3070-1 coat and hat hook in the 3070 series is a straightforward institutional coat hook, and the Trimco 7010 fOCAL robe hook and stop combines a hook with a door stop in one piece, which is useful where a wall-mounted bumper is also needed.
4) Is the Emtek 2268 hook solid brass or plated pot metal?
Brass, both as the material and the substrate, so the finish sits on brass rather than zinc. That matters for Unlacquered Brass US3NL in particular, which is meant to patina over time rather than hold a coating.
5) How does the Emtek SELECT U hook mount, and does it cover the old screw holes?
It is a wall mount hook with a rosette behind it, so the escutcheon conceals the fasteners and a small amount of the wall surface. Square rosettes (Chamfered Square, Small Square, Soft Square, Step Square) give a bigger footprint than the Small Disc, which is worth knowing if you are covering marks left by a previous hook.
6) Will the Emtek SELECT hook match the Emtek knobs and levers already on my doors?
The SELECT platform runs the same rosette shapes and finish codes across the family, so if your existing Emtek trim uses a Small Disc, Step Disk, Small Square, Soft Square, Chamfered Square or Step Square rosette, you can order the hook with the same rosette and the same US finish code. That is the usual way to carry one look from the door hardware through to the hooks in a bath or entry.
7) I do not need to mix finishes or pick a rosette - is there a simpler single hook than the Emtek 2268?
Yes. The Emtek 2268 SELECT smooth tip U hook is built around choosing a stem, a tip, and one of six rosettes, which is more decision-making than some jobs need. For a single hook ordered as one piece, Deltana's BBN2009 single robe hook in the BBN series and Orca Hardware's 2753 Cypress robe hook or 3654 Swirl robe hook are single-part selections with no stem or rosette to specify.
8) Will a Trimco 7010 work as a direct swap for the Emtek 2268 U hook?
Not as a like-for-like. The Trimco 7010 fOCAL is a robe hook and stop - it doubles as a door stop, so it is sized and placed for that dual duty. The Emtek 2268 SELECT smooth tip U hook is a wall mount hook on a rosette in brass with no stop function, offered in eight finishes including Oil Rubbed Bronze (US10B), Satin Nickel (US15) and Unlacquered Brass (US3NL). If you only want a hook where the 2268 sat, the Trimco 3070-1 coat and hat hook is the nearer single-purpose piece.
9) I want solid brass hooks to match existing brass trim - what compares to the Emtek 2268?
The Emtek 2268 SELECT smooth tip U hook is brass, with finishes including Satin Brass (US4), French Antique (US7) and Unlacquered Brass (US3NL). Deltana's solid brass hooks are the closest material match: the 55D2010 double robe hook in the 55D series and the 88DRH double robe hook in the 88 series are both solid brass. The difference is that the Deltana pieces are doubles, while the 2268 is a single U hook built up from a stem, tip and rosette.
10) Which finish holds up best in a damp bathroom on the Emtek 2268?
All eight are on a brass body, but they behave differently. Polished Nickel is a Lifetime finish (US14). Unlacquered Brass US3NL is raw brass with no topcoat, so it will darken and spot with humidity and handling, which is the intended effect. Flat Black US19, Satin Nickel US15, Polished Chrome US26, Satin Brass US4, Oil Rubbed Bronze US10B and French Antique US7 are the remaining choices, with Oil Rubbed Bronze and French Antique being living finishes that shift with wear.
11) What is the difference between the Round and Square stem on the 2268 SELECT hook?
Purely geometry of the post between the rosette and the hook. Round (RD) pairs naturally with the disc rosettes, Square (SQ) with the square ones, but nothing stops you running a square stem on a Small Disc rosette if that is the look you want. Function and mounting are identical either way.
12) What is the difference between the Deltana BBN2009 and BBS2010 if I am cross-shopping against the Emtek 2268?
The Deltana BBN2009 is a single robe hook in the BBN series and the BBS2010 is a double robe hook in the BBS series - single versus double arm, and different series families. Against either, the Emtek 2268 SELECT smooth tip U hook is a single hook whose distinguishing feature is configurability: round or square stem, six rosette shapes, and the option to order stem and tip in different finishes from each other.
