Emtek 2281 Mail Slot Sleeve

The 2281 is the tube, not the flap. It lines the through-hole cut in an entry door so the mail passes through a finished channel instead of bare door core, and it frames the opening for a solid brass Emtek mail slot on the face. You order it alongside the mail slot itself, which Emtek sells separately. If you already have a slot plate and just need to line the opening on a new door, the sleeve is the piece you want on its own.

Don't cut a mail slot into a fire rated door. Any through-penetration voids the door's listing unless the assembly itself is tested and labeled for it, and the 2281 is residential entry hardware. On a rated opening you want a wall-mounted or through-wall mail receptacle beside the door instead.

One size only: 2-7/8 by 11-7/16 inches. There is no wider or longer version in the 2281, so if your existing cutout is bigger than that in either direction, the sleeve will not cover it and you would be looking at a different slot assembly or a door repair.

The 2281 belongs to Emtek's Stainless Steel collection, so it lines up with other Emtek stainless entry trim rather than with a brass or bronze collection. If the handleset and lock on the door are stainless Emtek, the sleeve reads as part of the same set. On a door with brass hardware, the brass slot plate over the sleeve is what carries the finish match, since the sleeve itself is largely concealed once installed.
