Emtek 4300 Knoxville Dummy Entrance Handleset - Brass Tubular

It's a dummy, so there's no latch and no key. The Knoxville 4300 is non-keyed trim that mounts to the door face as a pull, typically used on the inactive leaf of a pair of French or double doors, or on a closet or pantry door where you just need a grip and a matching look. If you need the door to latch or lock, you need an entry or single-cylinder handleset instead, not this one.

Handing matters as soon as you put a lever on the inside. Right hand or left hand is a required choice on the Knoxville 4300, because the inside lever has to point toward the hinge side to work correctly on your door. If you pick a knob for the inside trim, handing is less consequential, but it is still specified on the order. Stand outside the door: if the hinges are on your right, it's right hand.

It ships as a complete set, but you pick the inside trim as part of the order. The Knoxville 4300 takes any Emtek brass knob or lever, so you choose from the full range: levers like Stuttgart, Athena, Luzern, Poseidon, Milano and Rope, knobs like Egg, Melon, Providence and Square, and crystal options like Windsor, Bristol and Georgetown. Nothing else has to be bought to complete the set.

Seven finishes: Oil Rubbed Bronze (US10B), Satin Nickel (US15), Pewter (US15A), Polished Chrome (US26), Polished Brass Lifetime (US3), Unlacquered Brass (US3NL) and French Antique (US7). Since it's solid brass in Emtek's brass collection, the finish codes line up with the rest of the Emtek brass line, so a dummy on the inactive leaf can be matched to keyed trim elsewhere in the house. There's also a split finish option if you want a different look inside than out.

It's a residential product. The Knoxville 4300 is solid brass American Designer styling built for houses and residential units, not for commercial-traffic openings. Property managers doing high-turn multifamily or any opening on a commercial spec should look at a graded handleset instead, such as the Schlage Residential F60 Addison, which is listed Grade 2 and fits the same 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inch doors, or the Master Lock HDLB Series Grade 2 handleset.

For the leaf that has to lock, you need a keyed or single-cylinder handleset, not a dummy. Within the same brass Emtek line you can match the Knoxville look and finish on the active leaf while running the 4300 dummy on the inactive one. No power of any kind. The Knoxville 4300 is fully mechanical, non-electronic and non-keyed, so there's nothing to wire, charge or program. Buyers cross-shopping smart handlesets like the Yale Assure with a Ridgefield handleset or the Kwikset San Clemente with a SmartCode keypad deadbolt are looking at a different category entirely.
