Emtek Lowell Glass Cabinet Knob, Schaub Collection

A mounting screw is included with each knob. Standard cabinet knob screws are 8-32 machine screws, and if your drawer fronts or doors are thicker than usual (a slab front with an applied panel, for example) you may need a longer 8-32 screw than the one packed in the box.

Emtek lists the Lowell as residential hardware, not commercial. It is well suited to single-family, condo, and higher-end multi-family kitchens and baths. For a heavy-use commercial casework job, a solid metal knob makes more sense than glass, for example the Deltana KRB175 heavy-duty solid brass round knob or the Schaub 131 Artifex round knob in Britannium.

The Emtek Lowell is a brass-substrate cabinet knob with a glass style face in a 1-3/8 inch size. For an all-metal look in a similar round profile, the Deltana KRB175 is a heavy-duty round knob with a groove, 1-3/4 inch diameter, in solid brass, and the Delaney Solid Brass Cabinet Knob is another solid brass round option. Both give you a metal face rather than the glass-and-brass combination of the Lowell.

Ten finishes: Oil Rubbed Bronze (US10B), Polished Nickel (US14), Satin Nickel (US15), Pewter (US15A), Flat Black (US19), Polished Chrome (US26), Polished Brass Lifetime (US3), Unlacquered Brass (US3NL), Satin Brass (US4), and French Antique (US7). Note that US3NL is unlacquered, so it will patina over time, while US3 is the lifetime-coated polished brass that holds its shine.

It is a glass knob on a brass base. The metal substrate is brass, which is what the finish is applied to and what the mounting screw threads into, while the decorative body is glass. It belongs to Emtek's Glass and Porcelain collection.

A knob like the Lowell mounts with a single screw through one hole, so it works on doors and on narrower drawers. On wide drawer fronts, most installers go to a two-hole pull for balance, or run two knobs. If you want a knob-style piece that also gives you a center-to-center spread, the Schaub 10030 Cafe Modern Oval Slot knob and the Schaub 10040 Cafe oval knob are both 1 inch diameter with 7/8 inch center to center.

For a plain metal round knob in a similar traditional register, the Delaney solid brass cabinet knob and the Deltana KRB175 round knob with groove (1-3/4 inch diameter, solid brass) are both solid-brass options. If the project leans contemporary instead, look at the Schaub 1200 Modo 16 mm knob in zinc and aluminum, or the Orca CK-18032 Mission round knob for a craftsman look.

You order by finish. The part numbers run SPC86571 plus the finish code: SPC86571US10B for Oil Rubbed Bronze, SPC86571US14 Polished Nickel, SPC86571US15 Satin Nickel, SPC86571US19 Flat Black, SPC86571US26 Polished Chrome, and SPC86571US7 French Antique. Since there is only one size, finish is the only choice you make.

Emtek uses the same US finish codes across its lines, so a Satin Nickel US15 Lowell knob is specified in the same finish family as US15 door hardware. Glass and metal take finish differently, and only the brass base of this knob carries the plating, so pull a sample before committing a whole house if an exact visual match against a solid metal lever matters to you.
