Emtek Porcelain Knobsets with Classic Brass Rosettes, Ebony Knob, Dummy (Pair)

No prep required. The Emtek Porcelain dummy knobset is surface mount, so it fastens to the face of the door with no bore, no cross-bore, and no latch prep. That makes it the fix for a closet or French door slab that was never drilled, and for a pair of doors where only one leaf is active. If the door is already bored 2-1/8 inches, a dummy trim built for a bored prep, like the Schlage A170 single dummy, covers the hole better.

Neither. A dummy knob is a pull, nothing more. There is no latchbolt, no cylinder, and no privacy turn, so the door has to be held closed by a ball catch, roller catch, or magnetic catch you supply separately. If you need the door to latch, look at a passage function set; if you need bed or bath privacy, look at a privacy function set.

It ships as a pair, one knob and rosette for each side, sold as a complete set. For a set of double French doors where you want a knob on the inside and outside of both leaves, you need two of these sets.

They are built and catalogued as residential hardware, and a porcelain knob on a surface mounted dummy rosette is not made for commercial traffic or a rated opening. For a commercial dummy trim, the BEST 6K single dummy is Grade 2 medium duty and the Schlage A170 single dummy is Grade 2 heavy duty. For apartment interiors and model units where the look matters more than cycle counts, the porcelain set is fine.

Then the finish on that brass rosette: Flat Black (US19), French Antique (US7), Oil Rubbed Bronze (US10B), Pewter (US15A), Polished Brass Lifetime (US3), Polished Chrome (US26), Polished Nickel Lifetime (US14), Satin Brass (US4), Satin Nickel (US15), or Unlacquered Brass (US3NL). The knob itself is the ebony porcelain in every combination.

Yes. Unlacquered Brass (US3NL) is raw brass with no clear coat, so it darkens and develops a living patina with handling. Polished Brass Lifetime (US3) is the finish to pick if you want the same yellow brass tone to stay put. The rosettes are solid brass either way.

Purely mechanical trim, no keyway and no electronics. There is no cylinder to key alike into a building master system, so if you are standardizing a property on a keyway, the keyed openings need a different product and these can sit on the closets and inactive leaves.
