Blackburn EXH140A1254 EX-FLEX BRAID TNCU 1400A 4H 254MM

It's an extra-flexible braided connector for high-current bus and switchgear work, rated 1400A. The conductor is tin-plated copper braid in a flat shape, with a four-hole pad pattern at the terminations. Flexible braid is what you use where two rigid bus sections or a bus-to-equipment connection needs to absorb thermal expansion, vibration, or slight misalignment instead of stressing the joint.

Four-hole. Each termination pad is drilled for a 4-hole bolt pattern, so the mating bus bar or equipment pad needs the matching four-hole drilling. If your bus is drilled 2-hole NEMA, this braid is not a drop-in and you want a 2-hole version instead.

It's built to IEEE / ANSI C37, 34. That's the reference to quote on a switchgear submittal when the spec calls for flexible connectors on high-voltage air switch and bus applications.

That's exactly what it's for. A solid bus link transmits every bit of thermal growth, vibration, and installation misalignment straight into the bolted joints and the equipment pads. The EXH140A1254 is a flexible braid built to take that movement, at a 1400A rating over a 254 mm span with four-hole pads on each end. Use solid bar where everything is rigid and aligned; use the braid at expansion points, across equipment interfaces, and anywhere a section has to be pulled for service.

The EXH140A1254 braid is tin-plated copper. The tin plating slows oxidation on the strands and at the bolted pad face, which keeps contact resistance from creeping up over time, and it's the usual choice when mating to aluminum or tin-plated bus. Bare copper braid will discolor and needs more attention at the joint.
