OATEY 790-1 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is a slip joint extension tube used for under a sink?
It makes up the gap when the sink tailpiece does not reach the trap. The Oatey 790-1 slides into the slip joint connection and is held by a slip nut and washer, so you can set the depth within its 6 inch length and cut it shorter if needed. Use it when the trap arm or trap inlet sits lower than the tailpiece you have.
2) Does the Oatey 790-1 extension tube come with a slip nut and washer?
The 790-1 is sold as the extension tube itself, 1-1/4 inch by 6 inch. If you are not reusing the slip nut and washer off the old tube, order those separately so the joint can be made up.
3) What part number should I order for an Oatey 1-1/4 x 6 slip joint extension tube?
Order Oatey model 790-1. That is the manufacturer part number for the 1-1/4 inch by 6 inch slip joint extension tube.
4) How much does the Oatey 790-1 extension tube weigh for a parts order?
Listed product weight is 0.15, with a volume of 0.01, so it adds effectively nothing to a stocked truck or a van kit. Property maintenance crews commonly carry several 1-1/4 inch extension tubes alongside traps and washers for lavatory repairs.
