Metallics EBK1 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What comes in the Metallics EBK1 eye bolt kit?
The EBK1 is an assorted kit of steel eye bolts with nuts, zinc plated, sold as one kit. The assortment covers a range of eye bolt sizes rather than a single size, so it suits a van stock or shop drawer where you need a few options on hand for hanging and anchoring work.
2) Are the Metallics EBK1 eye bolts zinc plated for corrosion resistance?
Yes. The eye bolts and nuts in the EBK1 kit are steel with a zinc plating, which gives basic corrosion resistance for dry interior and protected locations. For sustained outdoor exposure, washdown areas, or coastal sites, specify stainless hardware instead of zinc plated steel.
3) Do I need to order nuts separately for the Metallics EBK1 eye bolts?
No. Nuts are included in the EBK1 kit along with the eye bolts. You will still want washers if you are bolting through sheet metal or wood, and an appropriate anchor if you are fixing into concrete or masonry, since neither is part of the kit.
4) Is the Metallics EBK1 an electrical hardware item or general fastener stock?
Both, in practice. Metallics catalogues the EBK1 as an electrical fastener, and eye bolts with nuts are commonly used by electricians for supporting conduit runs, hanging raceway, and anchoring guy or messenger wire. Nothing about the kit limits it to electrical work, so general contractors and maintenance crews use the same assortment.
