Two lengths are made: 36 inch and 48 inch. Match the cover length to the device length already on the door, not to the door slab measurement, since exit devices are sized to the door width and are sometimes cut or ordered short. Measure the existing channel before choosing.
2) Can I use a non-dogging channel cover on a fire rated door?
Yes, and that is the point of the non-dogging version. Fire doors cannot have the latch held retracted, so a fire rated opening takes the non-dogging cover, which has no dogging keyway or hex opening cut into it. The 650227/650228 cover carries a fire rating and is the correct part for a fire rated exit device. If your device is dogged with a hex key or cylinder, you need the dogging version instead, since this cover has no provision for it.
3) What finishes does the Falcon 25 Series channel cover come in, and will it match my existing aluminum storefront doors?
Two anodized finishes are offered: US28 Aluminum Anodized and SP313 Dark Bronze Anodized. US28 is the clear anodized look that matches most mill-finish aluminum storefront, and SP313 matches dark bronze anodized frames. Both lengths, 36 inch and 48 inch, are offered in each of the two finishes.
