Falcon AS76280-LH 626 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Falcon AS76280-LH lever assembly work on a right-hand door?
No. The AS76280-LH is built as a left-hand assembly and is not meant to be re-handed in the field. If your door swings right hand, order the right-hand version of the Dane lever assembly instead. Handing is determined by standing outside the door: if the hinges are on your left and the door swings away from you, it is left hand.
2) What exactly comes in the Falcon AS76280-LH lever assembly?
Three pieces ship together as one trim package: the Dane-style lever, the Gala rose, and the spring cage that returns the lever to horizontal. That is the outside trim only. The lock chassis, latch, strike and cylinder are separate, so if the chassis itself is worn you need more than this part.
3) My MA Series lever is sagging and won't spring back level. Is this the part that fixes it?
Yes, that is the usual cause and this assembly addresses it. A drooping lever normally means the spring cage behind the rose has failed, and the AS76280 assembly replaces the cage along with the lever and rose as one unit, so you are not trying to rebuild the cage in the door. It is sold as a genuine Falcon replacement part for the MA Series.
4) Can a Corbin Russwin 483F80 outside lever and spindle be used to replace a Falcon AS76280-LH lever assembly?
No. The Falcon AS76280-LH is an MA Series lever assembly with spring cage, Dane lever and Gala rose, built as a genuine Falcon replacement part for the MA Series product line. The Corbin Russwin 483F80 is an outside lever and spindle for the ML2000 Series mortise lock, listed as Grade 1 with a Corridor/Dormitory function and sized for a 1-3/4 inch thick door. The two belong to different lock platforms, so the spindle and rose prep will not interchange. Match the trim to the lock body series already in the door.
5) What finishes does the Falcon MA Series Dane lever assembly come in?
Six: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 625 bright chrome, 626 satin chrome, 630 satin stainless, and 643E aged bronze. If you are matching existing openings, 626 satin chrome and 630 satin stainless are the common commercial choices and look similar but are not identical, so pull the BHMA number off the old rose before you order.
6) Do I need to order one assembly or two to redo both sides of a door?
Each AS76280 assembly covers one side of the opening. To change the lever and rose on both the inside and outside, order two, and both must match the handing and finish of the opening. Buy one only if you are replacing a single damaged side.
7) What is the difference between ordering a complete lever assembly like the Falcon AS76280-LH and a lever-and-spindle part like the Corbin Russwin 483F80?
The Falcon AS76280-LH is supplied as a complete trim package: spring cage, Dane lever and Gala rose together, so the lever return mechanism and the rose come in the box. The Corbin Russwin 483F80 is described as an outside lever and spindle, covering the lever and the drive spindle for an ML2000 mortise lock. If the existing rose or spring cage is worn, the full assembly is the one that restores both the finish trim and the return action.
8) Is this Falcon lever trim rated for high-traffic commercial doors?
It is a commercial-grade part, built to Falcon's commercial hardware standards for high-traffic door applications, and is used in offices, schools, healthcare, retail, warehouses, multi-tenant residential and municipal buildings. It is not a residential-duty trim.
