Falcon B511LD D 626 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What applications is the Falcon B11 cylindrical lock designed for?
The Falcon B11 is designed for entry and office applications requiring Grade 2 security. Suitable for commercial buildings, offices, and institutional facilities with medium traffic levels.
2) What door thickness does this lock accommodate?
Standard cylindrical locks typically fit doors from 1-3/8" to 1-3/4" thick. Verify your specific door thickness and check manufacturer specifications for exact compatibility requirements.
3) How do I determine the correct handing for this lever lock?
Stand on the side where the door opens toward you. If hinges are on your right, it's right-handed. If hinges are on your left, it's left-handed. Most cylindrical locks are reversible during installation.
4) What finish options are available for the Falcon B11?
Falcon typically offers multiple finish options including satin chrome, bright brass, and oil-rubbed bronze. Check product specifications for available finishes and match to your building's hardware standards.
5) What does Grade 2 certification mean for this lock?
Grade 2 meets ANSI/BHMA standards for commercial use. It provides 400,000 cycle durability, 150 lb-ft torque resistance, and meets security requirements for medium-duty commercial applications.
6) Can this lock be keyed to match existing cylinders?
Yes, the cylindrical design allows for keying to existing systems. Provide your key code or sample key to a locksmith for proper cylinder preparation and master key integration.
7) What accessories are needed for installation?
Installation typically requires a compatible strike plate and may need door reinforcement plates. Check if your door prep matches standard 2-1/8" bore and 1" cross bore specifications.
8) What are the standard door preparation requirements?
Standard cylindrical prep requires 2-1/8" face bore, 1" edge bore, and 1" x 2-1/4" latch face mortise. Backset is typically 2-3/4" or 2-3/8". Verify measurements before ordering.
9) How do I adjust the lever return spring tension?
Most Falcon cylindrical locks have internal spring mechanisms that are factory-set. If lever droop occurs, check for worn components or contact manufacturer for adjustment procedures specific to your model.
10) Are there related Falcon models for different security levels?
Falcon offers Grade 1 models for high-security applications and Grade 3 for light-duty use. Consider the B series for similar applications or explore our door locks category for alternatives.
11) What environmental conditions can this lock withstand?
Grade 2 locks are designed for interior commercial use. For exterior applications, verify weather resistance ratings and consider additional protection from moisture and temperature extremes.
12) What are the key dimensions I need to verify before ordering?
Measure door thickness, existing bore holes, backset distance, and strike plate location. Standard measurements are 1-3/4" door, 2-3/4" backset, but always verify against existing hardware before replacement.
