1) What exit devices does the Falcon F570 rim strike work with?
The F570 is the standard rim strike for Falcon 24/25-R Series rim exit devices, and it also fits 19-R and XX-R devices. Falcon states the same strike design carries over to the legacy Monarch XX-R, 19-R, 17-R and 18-R devices, so if you are servicing an older Monarch rim device the F570 is the strike that goes with it. It is a rim strike only, so it has no application on a surface vertical rod, concealed rod, or mortise exit device.
2) Which Falcon rim strike is the 13/16 inch depth version?
That is the F570. Falcon builds the rim strike in more than one depth, and the depth has to match the gap between the door edge and the strike face in your frame, since it sets how far the latch travels before it catches. The F570 is the 13/16 inch depth. Measure the existing strike before ordering; if your opening needs a different depth, the F570 is the wrong part number even though the device series is right.
3) Can I use the Falcon F570 strike on a fire rated door?
Yes. The F570 rim strike is suitable on both fire rated and non fire rated door assemblies, so a single part number covers a stairwell or corridor opening and an ordinary exterior exit. The fire rating on the opening comes from the exit device and the door and frame assembly, not from the strike, so the device you are pairing it with has to be the fire rated model for the opening to hold its label.
4) My Falcon exit device latch is not catching, do I need a new device or just a strike?
If the device itself pushes and retracts normally and the problem is the latch skipping or not holding, the strike is the usual culprit, and on a 24/25-R, 19-R or XX-R rim device the F570 is the replacement strike. It is sold as a replacement part on its own, so you can swap the strike without touching the device or the door. If the pushbar is binding or the latch will not retract, that is a device problem and a new strike will not fix it.
5) What finish does the Falcon F570 rim panic strike come in?
Matte black, US19. That is the only finish the F570 is offered in, so if your existing rim strike is a satin chrome or dark bronze you will be putting a black strike into that frame. On most openings the strike sits inside the frame rebate and is barely visible once the door is closed, but on a glass front entry or a storefront where the frame face is exposed it will read.
6) I am standardizing exit hardware across a building with mixed old and new Falcon devices, can one strike cover them?
To a useful degree, yes. Falcon kept the same rim strike design across the 24/25-R Series and the older 19-R and XX-R devices, including the legacy Monarch XX-R, 19-R, 17-R and 18-R.
