Falcon RETRACT.101 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the Falcon RETRACT.101 and what does it do on an exit device?
The RETRACT.101 is a rod retractor, a replacement component that goes into a Falcon exit device to restore proper rod function. It is a service part, not a complete device, so it is what you order when the rod action on an existing Falcon exit device needs repair rather than when you are replacing the whole device.
2) Will the Falcon RETRACT.101 rod retractor work in a Von Duprin or Precision exit device?
No. The RETRACT.101 is a Falcon part built to Falcon specifications for use in compatible Falcon exit device assemblies. For another brand's device, source the retractor from that manufacturer's own parts list; exit device internals are not interchangeable across brands.
3) How many rod retractors come in one Falcon RETRACT.101 order?
Each order is a pack of 10. That quantity suits a shop or maintenance crew stocking a service truck or covering a building with several Falcon exit devices, but note there is no single-piece option here, so a one-door repair still means buying the ten-pack.
4) Is RETRACT.101 a genuine Falcon part or an aftermarket copy?
It is sourced from Falcon and manufactured to Falcon specifications, so fit and function inside a compatible Falcon exit device match the original component. For facilities standardizing on Falcon hardware, that matters: generic retractors are not held to the same dimensional tolerances.
5) Is the RETRACT.101 rated for commercial use or is it a residential part?
Commercial. Falcon classifies the RETRACT.101 as a commercial door hardware component, and it is used in office buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, retail, warehouses, multi-tenant residential buildings and government facilities where exit hardware sees constant traffic.
6) I manage several buildings on Falcon exit devices. Is it worth stocking the RETRACT.101 as a spare?
That is exactly what the 10-pack is for. Rod retractors are a wear item inside Falcon exit devices, and a door with a failed retractor is a door where the exit hardware is not working as intended. Keeping a pack on the shelf means a service call is a parts swap instead of a wait.
