Falcon SC60A-62A AL – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the Falcon SC60A-62A offset auxiliary shoe actually do?
The SC60A-62A is the shoe that connects the closer arm to the door (or frame) in an offset position rather than the standard one. You use it when the standard shoe placement won't land where it needs to on the opening, so the closer arm can still be mounted and operate normally. It is a mounting accessory only, not a closer, and not a replacement arm.
2) Will the SC60A-62A shoe fit any Falcon door closer, or only certain ones?
Only Falcon SC60A Series closers. It is built specifically for that series, so it should not be used to adapt a closer from another Falcon series or another manufacturer. If the closer on the door isn't an SC60A, this is the wrong shoe.
3) I ordered a replacement SC60A closer. Does it already include the offset shoe?
Treat the offset shoe as a separate line item. The SC60A-62A is sold as an installation accessory for SC60A Series closers, so if the opening needs offset mounting, add it to the order alongside the closer rather than assuming it ships in the closer carton.
4) Is this Falcon shoe rated for commercial traffic or is it a light-duty part?
Commercial. The SC60A-62A is catalogued as a commercial door hardware component and is used in office buildings, schools, healthcare, retail, warehouses, multi-tenant residential, and government facilities.
5) Do I need to change the closer's spring or adjustment settings after fitting the offset shoe?
No. The offset shoe changes where the arm attaches, not how the closer is tuned. Closing speed, latch speed, and backcheck adjustments on the SC60A stay where they are; set them after the arm is connected as you normally would.
6) Where do I find the mounting dimensions and templates for installing this Falcon shoe?
Use the Falcon SC60A closer's own installation template and the Falcon Door Controls catalog. The shoe is a sub-component of that closer's arm assembly, so the parent device instructions carry the mounting layout you follow on the door.
