Blackburn FBB6-1 FLEXIBLE BRAID 24 KCMIL 6 INCH LONG

The FBB6-1 is a flat, flexible tin-plated copper braid jumper, 24 KCMIL and 6 inches long, with a one-hole terminal at each end. It bonds two points that need an electrical connection but also need to move, vibrate, or expand relative to each other, such as across an equipment door, a busway joint, or a transformer to enclosure bond. A solid conductor in that spot work-hardens and cracks; a braid flexes.

It is a 1-hole braid connector. One bolt per end is fine for bonding and grounding jumpers where the braid is meant to flex, but it does allow the pad to rotate about the bolt. If your spec calls for a two-hole, anti-rotation landing (common on telecom and data center ground bars), a 1-hole braid will not satisfy it and you need a two-hole version instead.

The 6 inch figure is the cable length of the braid itself, not counting the terminal pads at each end, so the hole-to-hole span is longer than 6 inches. Measure your actual point-to-point distance and leave slack: a bonding braid should never be pulled taut, since the whole reason for using braid is to absorb movement.

The tin plating on the copper braid is what makes that connection acceptable. Bare copper against aluminum sets up galvanic corrosion; the tin layer is the standard barrier used on bonding hardware for aluminum and galvanized surfaces. Clean the mating surface and use the correct bolt and washer for the pad hole.

Electrically you can match the 24 KCMIL cross section, but mechanically it is not the same part. The flat braid construction is built to take repeated flexing and vibration in a short 6 inch span; stranded cable in that span is stiff, transmits vibration into the terminals, and will eventually fatigue the strands at the lug barrel. If the two bonded points move relative to each other, use the braid.
