Blackburn FB2D9-1 FLEXIBLE CONNECTOR 9INCHES 1 HOLE

The FB2D9-1 is a flat flexible braid bonding jumper, 9 inches long, with a single bolt hole for termination. Braid jumpers like this bond equipment that moves, vibrates, or expands relative to its ground path, such as transformer enclosures, switchgear doors, generator skids, and expansion joints in busway or conduit runs, where solid conductor would fatigue and break.

It is both UL and CSA Listed, so it can be used on jobs in the US and Canada where listed bonding components are called for by the inspector or the spec.

The conductor is tin-plated copper. The tin plating is what matters in wet or humid locations: it slows surface oxidation on the strands and keeps the bolted contact face from building up resistance over time, which is the usual failure mode on a bare copper braid in a damp vault or an outdoor enclosure.

One hole per terminal pad is what the 1-hole configuration gives you, and for most bonding jumper duty that is all that is required. Two-hole (NEMA-spaced) terminations are specified where the connection has to resist rotation or where a utility or plant standard calls for it, typically on larger cable and ground bus work. If the drawing calls out a two-hole pad, the FB2D9-1 is the wrong part.

The braid is 9 inches overall. Because a bonding braid has to be installed with slack so the movement it is bridging is taken up by the braid and not by the bolted ends, treat 9 inches as the total length, not the usable gap. For a joint with meaningful travel, plan the span well short of the full 9 inches so the jumper stays loose at maximum extension.

Country of origin is the United States. That matters on federal, transit, and utility work where domestic sourcing is written into the contract, so it is worth calling out on the submittal.

That is exactly what a flat braid is for. Stranded copper wire bonded across a moving or vibrating joint work-hardens and eventually breaks at the lug; a flat flexible braid distributes the flex across many fine strands and a wide, thin cross section, so it tolerates repeated movement. Where there is no motion, ordinary stranded conductor and a mechanical lug will do the job.
