Greenlee 9505 Hand Truck Wire Caddy, Steel Construction

The Greenlee 9505 Hand Truck Wire Caddy is a dual-purpose steel wire cart built for electricians and contractors who need to transport and dispense wire on the jobsite. It converts from an upright hand truck for portability to a flat-lay position for controlled wire dispensing, and it holds up to twelve (12) spools of #12 AWG wire or eight (8) spools of #10 AWG wire using four (4) included solid steel 1/2 IN (13 mm) spindles. Rolling on 10 IN (254 mm) diameter pneumatic tires, the pinless design eliminates loose parts that can be lost or misplaced on the job.

Key Features

  • Dual-Function Design: Stands upright for use as a hand truck for jobsite transport, and lays flat when dispensing wire for controlled feed.
  • Pneumatic Tires: 10 IN (254 mm) diameter pneumatic tires provide smooth portability across rough jobsite terrain.
  • Pinless Construction: Pinless design eliminates loose parts, reducing the risk of lost hardware in the field.
  • Included Spindles: Four (4) solid steel 1/2 IN (13 mm) spindles are included for mounting wire spools.
  • Wire Spool Capacity: Holds up to twelve (12) spools of #12 AWG wire or eight (8) spools of #10 AWG wire.
  • Durable Construction: Steel frame in a green finish stands up to daily jobsite use and abuse.

Greenlee 9505 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the 9505 take 1/2 inch arbor wire spools, or do I need different spindles?
The spindles supplied are solid steel at 1/2 inch (13 mm) diameter, so any spool with a 1/2 inch or larger arbor hole will slide on. Spools with a smaller center hole will not mount. Four spindles ship with the cart.
2) Will the Greenlee 9505 wire caddy roll over rough ground and construction debris?
It runs on 10 inch (254 mm) pneumatic tires, which is what lets it cross gravel, dirt, and rough slab rather than the small hard casters you get on shop carts. The frame is steel, so it tolerates being dropped off a tailgate and loaded in a truck day after day.
3) Does the Greenlee 9505 use pins to hold the spindles, and can they get lost on site?
No pins. The 9505 uses a pinless design specifically so there is no loose hardware to drop in a trench or leave behind at the end of a shift. The four 1/2 inch solid steel spindles are the only separate pieces to keep track of.
4) Is a wire caddy like the Greenlee 9505 the right choice, or should I be looking at a wire reel stand?
Pick the 9505 when the wire has to move with you. It carries up to twelve #12 AWG spools and rolls on 10 inch pneumatic tires, then lays flat to dispense, so one person can reposition the whole load along a run. A fixed reel stand or jack stays put and is the better tool when you are pulling large single conductors off heavy reels from one location all day. For branch circuit rough-in in #12 and #10, the caddy wins on mobility.
5) What is the model and manufacturer part number for the Greenlee hand truck wire caddy?
It is Greenlee model 9505, sold under part number 9505, a steel wire cart in Greenlee's green finish and made in the United States.
