Metallics JGSH21 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does the dog point on this green ground screw do when you are working in a crowded box?
The dog point is an unthreaded pilot nose on the tip of the screw. It finds and starts in the tapped hole without cross-threading, which matters when you are reaching into a box full of conductors and cannot see the hole. Combined with the quadrex (Qd) drive recess, the screw can be started and driven one-handed.
2) How does the Metallics JGSH21 come packaged for a service van or shop stock?
These ship 100 screws to a jar, which is the format most electrical contractors keep on the truck or on the bench rack. One jar covers a hundred device boxes, so it suits rough-in work and MRO stock where ground screws get consumed steadily rather than bought one at a time.
3) What part number do I order for a 10-32 green ground screw from Metallics?
The manufacturer part number is JGSH21. That covers the 10-32 by 3/8 inch quadrex drive, dog point, green zinc plated steel ground screw supplied 100 to a jar.
