1) Will the Hager 3881E mortise lock fit a 2-inch thick door?
Yes. The 3881E is built for door thicknesses from 1-3/4 inches up to 2-1/2 inches, so a 2 inch door is inside the range. Backset is 2-3/4 inches, which is the standard commercial mortise backset, and the mortise pocket has to be routed to suit.
2) What does storeroom function with deadbolt actually do on the door?
On the Hager 3881E the outside lever is always fixed. Entry from outside is by key only, and the inside lever always retracts the latch for free egress. The added deadbolt gives a separate 1 inch stainless steel throw for locking the opening down. That combination suits storage rooms, mechanical rooms, and tenant service doors where the door must never be left unlocked by accident.
3) Will this Hager mortise lock latch into an existing ASA strike?
It ships with a 1-1/4 x 4-7/8 inch ASA strike, the standard commercial mortise strike, so if the frame is already prepped for ASA it drops in. The latchbolt throws 3/4 inch with an anti-friction tongue and the deadbolt throws 1 inch, so the frame pocket has to be deep enough for the bolt behind the strike cutout. Optional strikes are available if the frame prep differs.
4) Is the Hager 3881E handed, and can I reverse it in the field?
The lock body is field reversible, so one part covers left and right hand openings. It ships left hand reverse by default. The case is self adjusting for beveled doors. If you want it set at the factory, factory handing is an option that has to be called out on the order.

Yes. The 3800 Series mortise lock is UL/cUL listed for all functions up to 3 hour A label single doors, and it carries the UL10C positive pressure rating. It is also BHMA certified to ANSI A156.13 Series 1000 Grade 1 and ADA compliant to ANSI A117.1. For severe windstorm openings, ANSI A250.13 compliance has to be specified on the purchase order.
6) Does the Hager 3881E come with a cylinder, or do I order it separately?
Both ways are offered. Choose Standard cylinder and you get a brass 6-pin, keyed 5-pin, keyed different cylinder in the Schlage C keyway. Choose Less Cylinder if you are keying it into an existing system yourself. Hager mortise locks use a Schlage L cam as standard. SFIC and LFIC mortise housings are available, with the cores sold separately; LFIC is Schlage C keyway only.
7) Can I key the Hager 3881E into my building master key system?
As supplied the cylinders are keyed different, so each lock has its own key out of the box. If you run a master system, order Less Cylinder and fit your own, or specify an SFIC or LFIC mortise housing and drop your existing core in.
