1) Will the Hager 4501-F 48 inch rim exit device fit a 36 inch door?
Yes. The 4501-F ships as a 48 inch device and is field sizeable down to 36 inch doors, so you cut it on site rather than ordering a second length. Hager states the sizing range goes to 30 inch panic-rated and 28 inch fire-rated doors. What you cannot work around is stile: you need a minimum 5-3/8 inch (137mm) stile on a single door with a standard 5/8 inch stop. On an aluminum storefront with a narrow stile, use a narrow stile device such as the Adams Rite 3700 Series instead.
2) Is the Hager 4501-F approved for a 3-hour fire door?
It is UL/cUL Listed up to 3 hours for A label single doors, tested to UL10C positive pressure and UL10B neutral pressure, and it carries ANSI/BHMA A156.3-2014 Grade 1 certification. One thing to note for a fire opening: hex key dogging is standard on panic rated devices only. Fire-rated devices cannot be dogged, so plan on the latch staying projected at all times.
3) Will the Hager 4501 latch into the strike already on my frame?
Not likely, and you should not plan on it. The 4501 uses a 3/4 inch (19mm) throw stainless Pullman latchbolt with automatic deadlatching, and it comes with its own surface applied stainless strike with plated rollers. The strike has slotted holes so you can shift it to pick up the latch without redrilling the frame. Swapping in the supplied strike is the reliable route.
4) Does the Hager 4501-F come with outside trim, or is it exit only?
As built it is function 1, exit only, meaning push pad inside and no outside operation. If you need entry from the corridor side, add a Hager lever with escutcheon: Archer, August, Charles, Johnston, Joshua, Louis, Warren, William or Withnell. Outside key control uses a rim cylinder, which is a separate order line.
5) Is the Hager 4501 rated for hurricane zone openings in Florida?
It is. The 4501 meets ANSI requirements as a Severe Windstorm Component and is approved for High Velocity Hurricane Zone work under Miami-Dade County NOA #22-0816.08. That is the number your AHJ will ask for on a coastal submittal. Most of the comparable rim devices we carry do not carry an HVHZ approval, so if the spec calls for it, this is the one to hold.

The Hager 4501-F is not wood door compatible. Note it is a narrow stile device where the Hager 4501-F is a wide stile pushpad requiring a 5-3/8 inch minimum stile.

The Hager 4501-F is ordered for 1-3/4, 1-5/8, 2, 2-1/2 and 3 inch door thicknesses.
