Hager 5113 BLK – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the Hager 5113 blade stop spacer actually do on a parallel arm closer?
The 5113 drops the parallel arm shoe 1/2 inch (13 mm) so the arm clears a blade stop on the frame. Without it, the shoe sits at the wrong height and the blade stop fouls the arm, so the closer never runs through its full sweep. It is a spacer that repositions the shoe, not a closer arm and not a stop in its own right.
2) Do I need a 5113 spacer for my aluminum storefront frame with a blade stop?
Only if the blade stop measures 1/2 inch. The 5113 is sized to accommodate a 1/2 inch (13 mm) blade stop on an aluminum frame in a parallel arm mount. Measure the stop on your frame first. If the arm and shoe clear the stop as mounted, you do not need the spacer at all, and on a regular arm (pull side) mount the blade stop is not in the arm's path.
3) Will the Hager 5113 spacer work with a closer from another manufacturer?
The 5113 is a Hager door control part, sized for the Hager parallel arm shoe. Mounting hole pattern and shoe geometry vary by manufacturer, so treat it as a Hager closer part and match the spacer to the closer brand and series already on the door.
4) Does the Hager 5113 spacer come with the closer, or do I order it separately?
It is a separate accessory. A parallel arm closer ships with its arm and shoe; the blade stop spacer is ordered on top when the frame's blade stop gets in the way. Order it with the closer if you already know the stop is 1/2 inch, so the crew is not making a second trip.
5) Is the Hager 5113 spacer rated for commercial use?
It is a commercial door control part, made of aluminum, and it goes into the same openings Hager closers do: offices, schools, healthcare, retail, warehouses, multi-tenant residential and government buildings.
