On an exposed entrance with no canopy, most installers run both: the cap at the head, a sweep and threshold at the sill.
5) Where exactly should the 810S drip cap be mounted above the door?
It mounts on the wall or frame head above the opening, high enough that its 1-1/2 inch mounting leg sits on solid backing and the 2-1/2 inch projection overhangs the head of the frame.
