Metallics SCH100 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the Metallics SCH100 conduit hanger fit 1 inch EMT and 1 inch rigid conduit both?
Yes. The SCH100 is sized for 1 inch conduit and is listed for both EMT and rigid, so one part covers a run that switches between the two at 1 inch trade size. It won't work on other trade sizes; 1/2, 3/4, 1-1/4 and larger runs need the matching size hanger in the same series.
2) Does the SCH100 conduit hanger come with the bolt and nut, or do I have to buy fasteners separately?
The bolt and nut are included. Metallics supplies the SCH100 as a conduit hanger with bolts and nuts, so the only thing you add is the anchor or fastener into the structure (beam, strut, wood, or concrete anchor), which is job-dependent and not part of the hanger.
3) Are Metallics SCH100 conduit hangers made in the USA and acceptable on a federally funded job?
Country of origin is the United States, and Metallics flags the SCH100 as both Buy American compliant and ARRA compliant. That covers the domestic-content question procurement officers on federal, municipal, and school work usually raise before they'll release the PO.
4) How many Metallics SCH100 hangers are in a jar, and what is the minimum I can order?
They ship in a jar of 25, and 25 count is the order minimum. Plan quantities in multiples of 25 when you're estimating a conduit run.
5) What material and finish is the Metallics SCH100 hanger, and is it OK outdoors?
It's steel with a plated finish. Plated steel is intended for dry interior work such as ceilings, mechanical rooms, and interior walls. For wet locations, exterior runs, or corrosive environments, spec a hanger with a hot-dip galvanized or stainless finish instead.
6) What does a jar of 25 Metallics SCH100 hangers weigh and how much shelf space does it take on the truck?
The packed jar runs 2.33 lbs and measures 7.25 in by 4.5 in by 4.5 in. Light enough to keep several sizes on the van without a dedicated bin.
