1) Is Hercules 40115 cutting oil safe to use on potable water pipe threads?
The Hercules clear cutting oil is USDA Listed and contains no nitrosamine-forming compounds or chlorine additives, and it is free of halogens, PCBs and heavy metals. That is why it gets used on domestic water piping where a dark sulfur-based thread oil would be a problem. Flush the line after threading, as you would with any cutting lubricant.
2) Will this cutting oil work in a power threading machine, or is it only for hand threading?
