OATEY 137301 Hercules® 32 oz. Hercules PT-BIO1™ 12 661000010415

No. The Hercules PT-BIO1 drain treatment is a non-acid product that contains no acids, caustics, solvents or other harsh chemicals, and it is stated as safe for use in all types of drainage plumbing. That covers plastic and metal waste lines alike, so it will not attack pipe walls, joints, or seals the way an acid or caustic opener can. It is intended for drain pipe use.

Yes. Oatey 137301 Hercules PT-BIO1 is USDA authorized for use in food processing plants and is certified Salmonella sp free, which is the clearance a facility needs to run a drain treatment in a food handling area. For an MRO or facilities buyer standardizing across a commissary, cafeteria, or plant, that authorization is the deciding spec, not the bottle size.

Grease, fats, and oils. That is the stated material compatibility for the Hercules PT-BIO1 treatment, so it is aimed at the sink, floor drain, and kitchen waste lines that slow down from fat buildup rather than at a hard blockage. If the line is stopped solid by roots, scale, or a foreign object, a treatment product is the wrong tool and the line needs mechanical clearing.

It is a maintenance treatment. PT-BIO1 works on grease, fats, and oils in drain pipe, with no acids, caustics, or solvents doing the work, so the use case is keeping a line flowing on a schedule, not blasting open a drain that has already stopped. Property managers and facility crews get more out of it on a recurring pour into problem kitchen and floor drains than as an emergency call.

The treatment is stated safe for all types of drainage plumbing and carries no acids, caustics, or solvents, and it targets grease, fats, and oils, which is the same loading a grease interceptor sees. There is nothing corrosive in it to hurt the downstream piping. It is sold for drain pipe application, so use it in the waste lines feeding the system.
