HES 012-0462-001 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the HES 012-0462-001 locking lever actually do in an electric strike?
The 012-0462-001 is the locking lever inside the strike, the internal component that holds the keeper from releasing until the strike is energized. When it wears or gets damaged, the strike stops locking properly. Replacing the lever returns the strike to correct locking function without swapping the whole strike body.
2) My electric strike buzzes but won't hold the door locked. Is a new locking lever the fix?
A worn or damaged locking lever is exactly the failure that causes a strike to stop holding, and the 012-0462-001 is the part that addresses it. Confirm the strike is a 310 or 700 series Folger Adam type and order the lever for that series; if the fault is in the solenoid or wiring rather than the lever, this part won't correct it.
3) Is this a genuine factory part or an aftermarket copy?
It's a factory-specification replacement lever built to the same standard as the original component in the strike, not a generic aftermarket piece. For access control work where the strike has to release and relock on every cycle, that matters more than on most hardware.
4) Can a locksmith replace the locking lever in the field, or does the strike have to come out?
The lever is made as a field-serviceable component, dimensioned to drop into the compatible strike assembly so a tech can service it on site rather than pulling and replacing the entire strike. That keeps the opening down for less time on an access-controlled door.
5) Does buying the 012-0462-001 locking lever include the rest of the strike?
No. This is a single internal replacement component, not a complete electric strike. Order it only when the strike body, keeper and solenoid are sound and the lever is what failed.
6) Is the 012-0462-001 lever rated for commercial door traffic?
Yes, it's a commercial-grade part, intended for electric strikes in office buildings, healthcare, schools, government buildings, retail, industrial facilities and multi-tenant residential, not a residential-duty component.
