Ideal Industries 31-661 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) How long is the Ideal Industries 31-661 fish tape?
The 31-661 carries 100 feet of usable fish tape on the reel. That length is meant to cover a long conduit run in one pass instead of joining two shorter tapes together mid-pull.
2) Can I use a 100 ft fish tape for wall cavity work, or is it only for conduit?
Both. The Ideal 31-661 is built for feeding and retrieving wire and cable through conduit, raceways and wall cavities, so it works for rough-in on new construction as well as fishing walls on a remodel.
3) Is the Ideal 31-661 a 100 ft tape or a 100 ft reel plus extra?
100 feet is the usable tape length on the 31-661 reel, not a reel capacity rating. If your pulls routinely exceed 100 feet in a single run, step up to a longer tape rather than splicing this one.
4) What is the correct Ideal part number to reorder this 100 ft fish tape?
Order it as Ideal Industries 31-661. That is the manufacturer part number for the 100 foot fish tape reel, and it is the only model on the item.
