Sta-Kon RA2247M INS VIN LKG FRK TRM 22-16 No8 MYLAR

The RA2247M takes 22 to 16 AWG stranded copper wire. The red vinyl insulation is the standard color code for that range, so if you are sorting a kit by color, red equals 22-16 AWG on this terminal. Anything heavier than 16 AWG needs a different barrel size.

It is built for a No. 8 stud or screw. The fork slot slips over a loosened No. 8 terminal screw rather than requiring the screw to come all the way out, which is why it gets used on control panels and terminal strips where removing hardware over a live board is a problem.

The locking feature is the point of difference. A plain spade fork can walk out from under a screw head under vibration; the RA2247M's locking tangs grip the screw head and resist back-out, so it holds up on equipment that shakes while still letting you drop the wire off the strip without removing the screw. If the connection will never be serviced and you want the most positive mechanical capture available, a ring terminal on the same No. 8 stud is still the closed-loop choice.

Rated 600 V, which covers typical control, lighting and motor-circuit terminations in commercial panels. It carries UL file E9809, so it can be used where the inspector wants a UL recognized termination.

Use an insulated-terminal crimp tool sized for the red 22-16 AWG color code. The insulation and Mylar sleeve are meant to be crimped over, not stripped back, so a bare-terminal nest or a pair of pliers will crush the sleeve and compromise the 600 V rating.

Copper barrel with vinyl insulation, plus a Mylar insert inside the sleeve. The Mylar liner keeps the vinyl from splitting when the barrel is crimped and adds dielectric strength at the wire entry, which is where cheap terminals tend to fail.
