The RC484-SC is sized for 12-10 AWG stranded or solid copper conductor. That is a single barrel size covering both gauges, so a 12 AWG branch circuit tail and a 10 AWG feeder tail both crimp into the same terminal. Anything 14 AWG or smaller will not grip properly in this barrel and you want the blue 16-14 size instead.

It is a No. 6 ring, so the tongue drops over a #6 screw or stud. On a #8 or #10 terminal block screw the ring will not pass over the threads, and on a smaller #4 screw the head may pull through under vibration. Check the lug screw on your breaker, bus bar, or ground point before ordering.

An insulated-terminal crimper that compresses the metal barrel through the nylon sleeve is what you want, not a bare-terminal die that will split the insulation. No tool is supplied with the terminal, so order it separately if you do not already carry one.

Nylon. Nylon insulation takes a higher operating temperature and resists abrasion and solvents better than the vinyl sleeves on economy terminals, which is why it is the common choice for motor control panels, machine wiring, and anywhere the harness gets flexed or dragged. It also holds its shape during crimping, so the funnel entry stays open for the strands.
