1) What wire gauge does the Sta-Kon RB853 ring terminal crimp onto?
The RB853 is sized for 18 to 14 AWG stranded copper conductors. That is the blue insulation band in the standard color code, so if the wire you are terminating is 16 or 14 AWG lighting or control wire, this is the right size. For 22-16 AWG you need a red-insulated terminal instead, and for 12-10 AWG a yellow one.
2) What size stud or screw will the RB853 ring fit over?
The ring is drilled for a No. 6 stud or screw, so it drops over a 6-32 machine screw or terminal stud. If your terminal block uses a No. 8 or No. 10 screw, the ring will not pass over it and you need the larger-ring version in the same 18-14 AWG blue size.
3) Is the RB853 ring terminal rated for 600 volt circuits?

4) Why pick a ring terminal instead of a fork or spade terminal?

Sta-Kon terminals are designed around a tool-matched crimp, and a generic plier-style crimper on the wrong nest will either under-crimp or split the nylon sleeve. Match the die color to the terminal color and you are on the right nest.
7) What is the difference between nylon insulated and vinyl insulated ring terminals?
Nylon, which is what the RB853 uses, holds up better to abrasion, heat, and solvents than vinyl and resists splitting when the barrel is crimped. Vinyl is the cheaper general purpose sleeve. For panel builds and equipment wiring where the harness gets pulled through raceway or sees heat, nylon is the one to spec.
