1) Will the Ives DP1 dust proof strike work with the flush bolts I already have on my inactive leaf?
The DP1 is made for the bottom bolt of flush bolt applications and works with all flush bolt types, so brand isn't the deciding factor. Geometry is. The strike takes a 3/4 inch diameter bolt into a pocket 1-1/8 inches deep, so any bottom bolt whose rod is 3/4 inch or under and projects less than 1-1/8 inches drops in and engages. Measure the bolt end on the flush bolt you're pairing it with before you drill.
2) Can I use the Ives DP1 as the bottom strike for a surface vertical rod exit device?
No. The DP1 is specified for the bottom bolt of flush bolt applications, not for the bottom rod of an exit device. Vertical rod devices use a bottom strike matched to that specific device family, and dropping a flush bolt strike under one is how you end up with a rod that won't seat. If the opening has a Detex 50 Series surface vertical rod device, the Detex 96B Strike Kit is the bottom dust proof strike built for it. For any other exit device, take the bottom strike from that manufacturer's own device line.
3) Will the Ives DP1 floor strike cover the hole from the dust proof strike I'm replacing?
Depends on the shape of what's coming out. The DP1 face plate is round and 1-7/16 inches across, and the pocket under it is a 3/4 inch bore taken to 1-1/8 inches deep. A round existing plate 1-7/16 inches or smaller gets covered cleanly. A square face plate, or a round one wider than 1-7/16 inches, leaves an outline in the finish floor that you'll be patching. Check the existing bore depth too: if it's shallower than 1-1/8 inches, the plunger has nowhere to travel and you'll need to deepen it.

5) How many dust proof floor strikes do I need for a pair of doors with flush bolts?
