Metallics BTJ7 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Do I get nuts and washers with the Metallics BTJ7 J-bolt?
The pack is bolts only, ten 3/8-16 x 7 zinc plated J-bolts. Order 3/8-16 nuts and washers separately to finish the connection.
2) How many J-bolts come in a pack of Metallics BTJ7?
Ten bolts per bag. It is sold as a bagged pack of 10, so one pack covers ten hanger points; order in multiples of that for larger runs.
3) Is the Metallics BTJ7 J-bolt suitable for electrical conduit and strut hanging?
It is an electrical-trade fastener, catalogued with Metallics electrical fasteners and bolts, and the 3/8-16 thread is the common size for conduit hangers, rod couplings and strut nuts. The 7 inch overall length gives enough thread to pass through a beam flange or purlin and still take a nut.
4) Is the Metallics BTJ7 J-bolt corrosion resistant enough for outdoor use?
The BTJ7 is zinc plated steel. Zinc plating handles dry interior and sheltered work fine, but it is a thin coating, not hot dip galvanizing or stainless, so for permanently wet, coastal or chemically aggressive locations choose a hot dip galvanized or stainless J-bolt instead.
