Kaba Ilco 7010 1 1/8" (28.6mm) Dummy Rim Cylinder

A dummy rim cylinder like the Kaba Ilco 7010 is a non-keyed filler. It fills the cylinder hole in a storefront door or exit device so the opening looks finished and stays weathered in, but it operates nothing. There's no keyway, no plug to turn, no tailpiece function. If you need the cylinder to actually retract a rim latch, this isn't the part, you want a keyed rim cylinder instead.

The Medeco 100400H is the 1-1/8 inch keyed counterpart. It is a 6-pin cylinder with a horizontal/vertical tailpiece, UL 437 listed, rated Grade 1 heavy duty. The Kaba Ilco 7010 is a 1 1/8 inch (28.6mm) dummy rim cylinder with no keyway function at all, so it will not accept a key or a keying order. If the opening needs key control - a tenant suite, a back-of-house door, a keyed exit device - go to the 100400H and specify keying with it. Keep the 7010 for the leaf that only needs the hole filled and the trim to match.

They do different jobs on the door. Check the diameter before you commit. The Medeco 100300 is a 5-pin 1-1/16 inch rim cylinder with a horizontal/vertical tailpiece, Grade 1 heavy duty. The Kaba Ilco 7010 is 1 1/8 inch (28.6mm). Those are two different cylinder diameters, so the prep that suits one is not automatically the prep for the other - measure the existing cylinder or the hole in the door before ordering. Within Medeco's own line, the 100400H is the 1-1/8 inch size and matches the 7010 on diameter. This matters most on retrofit work where the storefront door is already cut.

Eleven finishes, so you can match whatever is already on the door: Bright Brass, Satin Brass, Antique Brass, Satin Bronze, Oil Rubbed Bronze, Satin Nickel, Bright Chrome, Satin Chrome, Black Aluminum, Bright Stainless Steel, and Satin Stainless Steel. For a property manager standardizing a building, the two stainless and the black aluminum are the ones that usually line up with existing storefront entrances.

A dummy rim cylinder is the right call when the door already has the standard rim cylinder prep and you want it filled with something that looks like the real thing. The Ilco 7010 drops into that prep with its own trim ring and mounting plate, so no new hole and no patching. It's a replacement part, not a working lock, so pair it with whatever is actually securing the door.

The hole prep is the same rim cylinder prep either way, but the mounting hardware is not interchangeable between brands and the Ilco 7010 ships with its own trim ring, mounting plate, and break-off screws sized to it. Order the replacement cylinder as a complete unit rather than trying to reuse the dummy's parts. The Medeco 100400H is the 1-1/8 inch 6-pin equivalent length if you want to match the 7010's 1-1/8 inch (28.6mm) dimension.

Only on the openings you are deliberately leaving passive. The Medeco 100400 XT is a horizontal/vertical rim cylinder built as an electronic, no-wire, drill and tamper resistant cylinder, Grade 1 heavy duty - that is the credential-carrying part in an electronic standardization. The Kaba Ilco 7010 is a non-keyed dummy rim cylinder, so it carries no credential and no key. In a mixed rollout the usual split is the 100400 XT on the doors that need audit and credential control, and the 7010 on inactive leaves and dressed-off cylinder holes so the elevation reads consistently. The 7010 comes in eleven finishes including satin chrome, oil rubbed bronze, and satin stainless steel, which makes matching the electronic openings straightforward.

They are not on the same axis. The Medeco 100300, 100400, 100400H, and 100403 are all Grade 1 heavy duty keyed rim cylinders, with the 100400H carrying a UL 437 listing and the 100400 XT built drill and tamper resistant - security ratings that describe how a keyed cylinder resists attack. The Kaba Ilco 7010 is a non-keyed dummy: there is no keyway to pick or drill because it operates nothing. On a leaf where the 7010 goes, the security is coming from the lock or device on the active leaf, not from the cylinder hole. If the door itself has to resist attack at the cylinder, that door needs one of the keyed Medeco cylinders, not a dummy.
